Bonghwangjeong Pavilion, located at the summit of Mt. Gyejoksan, is presumed to have been named after Mt. Bonghwangsan which was the name of Mt. Gyejoksan in the past.
Mt. Gyejoksan is an old name from the history of Korea, and according to the story that has been passed down, it was called Bisuri because when this mountain cried during severe drought, it would rain heavily.
The sunset seen from Mt. Gyejoksan’s Bonghwangjeong Pavilion is one of the Eight Most Popular and Beautiful Sights of Daejeon.
When you think of Mt. Gyejoksan, Gyejoksanseong Fortress is the first thing that comes to mind, which shows just how many fortress walls represented by Gyejoksanseong Fortress can be seen in Section 5 in Daejeon.
